The Tandem Trader DVD was the follow up to Nathan Michaud’s first DVD, Textbook Trading. Whereas some follow up courses tend to re-hash old material or simply elaborate further on it, Tandem Trader takes a completely different approach. If I were to sum up each of the courses in a few words, I would say that Textbook Trading focuses mostly on the theory of day trading while Tandem Trader focuses more on the execution. Textbook Trading is a pre-requisite to Tandem Trader, so without watching the first course you may not get the full value of the second. Textbook Trading goes over all of the terminology of trading, the basic tools, chart setups, etc. Tandem Trader is for traders who have some experience day trading but want to learn more. Honestly, Tandem Trader is unlike any other trading course I have watched before. This course actually dives into live trades and breaks down the logic and game plan behind each one. So, let’s get to it. Here is my review of Tandem Trader.
My Review of Tandem Trader
Tandem Trader is a long DVD and there is no way I could summarize the entire course. That said, I want to focus on a few key criteria that I tend to evaluate products with
Quality
The quality of the DVD is top notch. You can tell that a lot of production went into it. When you buy the DVD, you get instant streaming access on the Investors Underground website.
Organization
Similar to Textbook Trading, Tandem Trader is organized by chapters. I really like this setup because it allows me to use the course as an educational reference at a later point in time. If I am focused on OTC stocks, I will look at the OTC chapter again. If I want to improve my level 2 skills, I will revisit the level 2 chapter. The chapter setup also makes it much easier to split up my viewing sessions.

Content
As mentioned earlier, Tandem Trader is unlike any other trading course I have seen before. The main reason being that the course features live trade recaps. As much as I love learning about trading theory, there is something incredibly enlightening about being able to watch trades in real-time. I believe Nate recorded his trades for a long time and then added voice overs explaining why he traded the way he did.
I’ll admit that at some times the trades took too long so I’ll fast forward every now and then. However, I learned so much by actually watching trades. When I focus on trading theory, I’m being TOLD what to learn. When I watch a trade recap, I can pick up my own insights and get more applicable trading knowledge.

Value
The price tag on Tandem Trader is pretty steep. I believe it goes for $1,497 on the Investors Underground website. That being said, they are always running deals on it so you really shouldn’t have to pay full price. I snagged my copy when they were running a promotion, and, although the price tag is high, I honestly believe that the lessons have saved me much more in losses and helped me become a better trader.
Application
What you get out of this course is somewhat relative to what you put into it. As I mentioned above, the trade recaps give you a chance to pull your own insights. If you’re looking to be told exactly what to do, you may not take away the same applicable lessons that I did. Nate & Cam discuss the theories and how the chart setups should be played, but, once again, I got more value by reading between the lines.
